Swedish Modern Floor Lamp by Nordiska Kompaniet, 1940s

€4.500

Swedish Modern Floor Lamp by Nordiska Kompaniet (NK), Sweden, 1940s Swedish floor lamp manufactured by Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) in the 1940s. Made in brass, with a circular base, adjustable stem and long swivelling arm supporting a pleated fabric shade. The lamp can be adjusted in both height and reach, making it particularly practical beside a sofa or armchair. The long horizontal arm allows the light to be positioned over a seating area without the base having to stand directly beside it. The construction is simple but well considered, with slender brass elements and a stable base. The adjustable mechanism is incorporated into the design without unnecessary decorative details. Nordiska Kompaniet produced a wide range of furniture and lighting during the Swedish Modern period, often combining traditional materials with practical, functional designs. This lamp is a good example of that approach. The brass has developed a natural patina over time, which has been preserved. Good vintage condition with signs of age and use. The existing shade has some imperfections, as shown in the photographs. A new shade can be provided upon request. Wiring: All our lamps are wired for EU standards.
