Scandinavian Midcentury Floor Lamp by Bertil Brisborg for NK

€4.800

Rare Floor Lamp by Bertil Brisborg for Nordiska Kompaniet, Sweden, 1950s Designed for Nordiska Kompaniet's Triva series, this unusual floor lamp combines a slender brass stem with a heavy metal base finished with a teak surface. The two light sources are mounted on a U-shaped brass arm that can swivel through 270 degrees. This allows the shades to be positioned in different directions, making the lamp practical beside a sofa or between two armchairs. The wide U-shaped arm is the most distinctive feature of the design. Its curved form contrasts with the straight central stem, while the teak-covered base adds warmth to the otherwise predominantly brass construction. The Triva series was developed by Nordiska Kompaniet with an emphasis on practical, modern lighting for the home. This model is a less commonly encountered example of Bertil Brisborg's work for the company. Very good vintage condition with light patina and minor signs of age and use. The lamp has been refinished and comes with new hand-pleated fabric shades. Wiring: All our lamps are wired for EU standards.
