Swedish Brass Wall Lamps by Boréns

Swedish Brass Wall Lamps by Boréns, Sweden, 1960s Charming Swedish mid-century wall lamps produced by Boréns during the 1960s. Combining warm brass with softly diffusing fabric shades, the lamps have a distinctive cylindrical form that balances Scandinavian restraint with an ingenious functional construction. Each lamp consists of a fabric-covered acrylic shade fitted within a substantial brass cylinder. The simple geometry gives the design a clean architectural character, while the contrast between the polished metal and pale textile introduces warmth and softness. A particularly attractive feature of the design is the adjustable brass cylinder. It can be rotated to direct the light in different directions, allowing the lamps to provide either more focused illumination or a softer atmospheric glow against the surrounding wall. The fabric-covered inner shade gently filters the light source, while a frosted glass disc on the underside further softens the illumination. Together, these elements create a warm and comfortable quality of light and prevent the bulb from becoming visually dominant. The combination of directional functionality and understated materials is characteristic of Scandinavian lighting from the period, where practical considerations were frequently incorporated directly into the decorative expression of the object. Their sculptural cylindrical form gives the lamps a strong presence even when switched off. They would work particularly well as bedside lamps, beside a sofa or reading chair, or positioned as accent lighting in a hallway or living room. A characterful example of Swedish 1960s lighting, combining thoughtful functionality with simple geometric forms and the warmth of brass and textile. Very good restored condition with minor signs of age and use. The shades have been fitted with new fabric, and the plastic discs originally positioned on the underside have been replaced with frosted glass.
