Swedish Mid-Century Wall Lamps in Brass and Opaline Glass by ASEA, 1950s Elegant Swedish wall lamps manufactured by ASEA in the 1950s. Combining large frosted opaline glass shades with slender brass details, the lamps have a beautifully balanced appearance that reflects the restrained elegance of Swedish mid-century lighting. Each lamp features a single light source concealed behind a generously proportioned opaline glass shade. The softly frosted glass diffuses the light evenly, producing a warm and comfortable glow while completely shielding the bulb from view. The glass is held delicately in position by three thin brass rods. This construction gives the lamps a particularly light and architectural appearance, with the slender metal elements providing an elegant contrast to the broad, softly curved surface of the glass. The simplicity of the design places particular emphasis on proportion and material. Rather than relying on decorative ornamentation, the lamps derive their character from the relationship between the luminous opaline glass and the precise linear brass framework. When illuminated, the large glass surface becomes an important part of the design, transforming into a softly glowing plane of light.
