Scandinavian Mid-Century Bar Cart by Rolf Hesland for Bagn Møbelindustri, Norway, 1960s Elegant and cleverly designed bar cart by Rolf Hesland for Bagn Møbelindustri, produced in Norway during the 1960s. Crafted in richly figured rosewood, the piece combines a compact architectural form with a particularly ingenious approach to storage. The cart features a sliding Formica top that opens to reveal a concealed compartment for bottles and glassware. When closed, the contents are neatly hidden away, leaving a clean and uncluttered surface that allows the expressive rosewood grain to take centre stage. The deep tones and striking natural figuring of the rosewood give the otherwise restrained design a luxurious character. Clean lines and carefully considered proportions reflect the Scandinavian mid-century emphasis on functionality, craftsmanship and simplicity, while the concealed bar compartment adds a playful and practical element.
