Scandinavian Mid-Century Rosewood Dining Table by Ib Kofod-Larsen for Seffle Möbelfabrik, Sweden, 1960s. Rare and elegant Scandinavian dining table designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen for Seffle Möbelfabrik in the 1960s. Crafted in richly figured rosewood, the table combines generous proportions with the refined detailing and exceptional sense of craftsmanship associated with Kofod-Larsen's work. The large oval tabletop creates a particularly graceful silhouette, softening the substantial dimensions of the table and allowing it to be appreciated from every angle. The rosewood displays a beautifully varied grain, with deep reddish-brown tones and darker figuring providing a natural decorative quality across the expansive surface. Beneath the top, the carefully constructed base continues the flowing character of the design. Elegant shaping and subtle transitions between the different elements give the table a distinctly sculptural quality while maintaining the restrained expression characteristic of Scandinavian Modern furniture. A particularly practical feature is the extension system. The table comes with two additional leaves, each measuring 45 cm, allowing it to be considerably enlarged for larger gatherings. When the leaves are removed, the oval form creates a more intimate dining table while retaining its impressive presence. Ib Kofod-Larsen was known for his sophisticated approach to natural materials and his ability to combine functional furniture with subtle sculptural detailing. This table demonstrates those qualities particularly well, with the richness of the rosewood balanced by clean lines, elegant proportions and carefully considered construction.
