Swedish Modern Bar Cart in Brass, Sold by Svenskt Tenn, Sweden, 1950s Beautifully detailed Swedish Modern bar cart from the 1950s, originally sold by Svenskt Tenn. Executed primarily in brass, the cart combines elegant proportions with playful decorative details, resulting in a piece that is both highly functional and visually distinctive. The slender brass structure incorporates perforated trays and two glass shelves, creating an airy construction despite the generous size of the piece. Softly curved supports add movement to the silhouette, while the wooden handles introduce a warm, tactile contrast to the brass and glass. Particularly striking are the large wheels with their decorative spoked design, which give the cart much of its individual character. Smaller front castors allow it to move easily, reflecting the careful balance between practical function and decorative expression that characterises the design. The perforated brass surfaces add another layer of detail, creating subtle variations of light and shadow and giving the otherwise restrained construction a more playful quality. Together with the glass shelves, they keep the overall appearance light and elegant.
