Swedish Midcentury Bench in Oak by Hugo Svensson, 1960s

€1.500

Swedish Mid-Century Oak Bench by Hugo Svensson for Bjärnums, Sweden, 1960s Elegant Swedish mid-century bench designed by Hugo Svensson for Bjärnums in the 1960s. Crafted entirely in oak, the bench has a beautifully restrained construction that places emphasis on the natural character of the wood and the carefully considered proportions. The rectangular seat is supported by two sculptural leg sections, joined by a horizontal stretcher that gives the piece both stability and a strong architectural expression. Subtle joinery details and softly rounded edges add refinement to the otherwise simple and robust form. The warm oak has developed a beautiful patina over time, highlighting the grain and giving the piece a rich, lived-in character. Its understated design is characteristic of Scandinavian modernism, where functionality, craftsmanship and the inherent qualities of natural materials take centre stage. Compact and highly versatile, the piece works equally well as a traditional bench, an entrance or hallway seat, a low side table, or as a stand for books, plants and decorative objects. Very good original vintage condition. The construction is strong and stable, and the wood shows a beautiful natural patina with minor signs of age and use.

Condition

Good. Wear consistent with age and use. The construction is in perfect condition and the wood shows a perfect patina. Excellent original condition.
